Game Events + Tracking

Why aren't events (strikeouts, hits, mound visits, etc.) showing up on my card right away?

We pull all game data directly from the official MLB stats API, which means we're dependent on the league's official scoring and data feed. Events typically appear within 10–60 seconds, but can take longer during high-traffic moments or late innings due to:

  • Official scoring delays

  • MLB data feed processing time

  • App syncing

What to do: Refresh the app or close and reopen it. If an event still hasn't appeared after 2 minutes and you're certain it occurred, please email a screenshot (or description of what you're seeing) and the missing event to support@playsidelinesports.com. Most events will eventually populate once the official MLB box score updates.

Note: Strikeouts can be especially slow to update in late innings or during high-action sequences. A strikeout combined with an immediate play (like a caught stealing) may register as one or two events depending on official scoring.

Why didn't my player-specific event count (e.g., "Player X reaches base")? Or why did the player name change?

Player events are tied to official MLB data and only trigger while the named player is actively in the game. If a player exits early, subsequent events for that player typically won't count.

Player-specific events should switch from generic positions (e.g., "SS reaches base") to specific player names (e.g., "A. Smith reaches base"). We include the position as a placeholder until we know who is playing. This allows us to let you get your Bingo card earlier in the day, sometimes before the official lineup is released. Once the lineup is released, we will automatically replace the position with the player's name. These events are all specific to your team only, not the opposing team. Player names always use official MLB formatting (e.g., "A. Garcia" rather than nicknames)

What counts as a pop out, fly out, putout, or assist? Why didn't mine check off?

These are based on official MLB scoring:

  • Pop out/Fly out: Any caught fly ball, whether in the infield or outfield. Infielders catching balls in the outfield grass typically count as fly outs.

  • Putout/Assist: Official scoring stats (e.g., a 6-3 groundout = shortstop assist + first baseman putout)

If an expected event doesn't register, it's usually due to either:

  • Data delay (see first question)

  • The play was officially scored differently than expected (e.g., a line drive ruled as a hit)

For support, please screenshot (or describe) the play from MLB.com or your app's broadcast feature.

What counts as a mound visit? Why didn't mine check off?

Only official MLB mound visits count—these are coaching staff conferences that take place at the pitcher's mound.

Do not count:

  • Pitcher warm-up visits

  • Injury timeouts

  • Conferences not held on the mound

Some mound visits are reviewed and adjusted post-game by official scorers, so they may be added or removed. If you're expecting a visit to register, wait 1–2 minutes and refresh the app.

Prizes + Points

I won a prize - when will I hear from the team?

Prize notifications typically come from the team via email within 3–10 business days. However, communication methods and timeframes vary by team, with some batching prizes weekly or monthly.

If it's been more than two weeks, please email a screenshot (or description) of your win message and game history to support@playsidelinesports.com.

How do I earn points? Where can I see my total?

Points work differently depending on which game you're playing:

Pick 3: You'll earn points when your players complete events during the game. Check the leaderboard (found in the Menu - three horizontal lines in the top left of your screen) to see how you're doing.

Intuition: You'll earn points when you answer a question correctly. Your total points appear at the top of the Rundown screen.

Bingo: Points are not always included and vary from team to team. Typically, if you are one of the first to claim a Bingo, you'll earn points. Check the Welcome Message or Ways to Win screens (both found in the Menu - three horizontal lines in the top left of your screen) for specifics on how to earn points, then visit Game History and the Contest Leaderboard to see your standing.

How and when do I claim a Bingo (Letter Bingo, Diamond Bingo, Blackout Bingo, etc.)?

Monitor your card during the game. Once you complete the required win pattern, you must manually tap the "Claim Bingo" button at the bottom of your Bingo card (the blinking button at the bottom of your Bingo card) to claim that win.

If you are within the designated prize cap, you could be a winner. Please review the message that appears in the pop-up to determine if you've won and what the next steps are.

Technical Issues

The game isn't loading, clickable, or visible.

Common reasons include:

Expected scenarios:

  • No Bingo, Pick 3, or Intuition game is scheduled despite the team having a game that day

  • The game was postponed, delayed, rescheduled, or rained out

  • Doubleheader: Only one game may load initially; the second will be available soon

Technical issues:

  • Previous game didn't fully close, blocking the next setup

  • Weather delay: The game may appear frozen - wait 15–30 minutes after the official start time

If the issue persists, please email a screenshot (or description of the issue) to support@playsidelinesports.com.

The app screen is frozen, the font is too big, or the UI feels slow/glitchy.

Try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Force-close and restart the app

  • Clear your app cache

  • Update to the latest version of the app

Some older phones may experience font or scaling issues. If freezes or glitches persist, please email support@playsidelinesports.com with your device model and a screenshot (or description of the issue).
